An endovascular procedure that removes plaque and restores blood flow through the affected artery, commonly the coronary, carotid, or peripheral artery. This procedure is performed by inserting a catheter into the blocked artery, either through a blood vessel in the arm or groin, and then inflating a small balloon attached to the end. This balloon acts as a tool to push plaque to the outer walls of the artery creating a space for blood to flow through normally.
